How to Cancel Dropbox the Easy Way in 2020
Dropbox is a cloud storage service that offers a lot of useful features and plans, but this doesn’t mean it’s for everyone. If you’ve signed up to Dropbox and have found yourself not making the best use of your plan, or if Dropbox isn’t fitting your needs, it may be time to cancel the service.
In this article, we are going to walk you through the step-by-step process of canceling your individual or team plan. We’re also going to cover how to get a refund and whether or not you qualify.
How Do I Cancel My Dropbox Subscription?
Canceling your individual Dropbox plan is easy. To get started, click on the circle — or your profile picture — at the top-right corner of the home page. Then click on “settings” from the dropdown tertiary menu. From there, you will be taken to the main “general” tab in the settings menu.
Once in settings, click on the “plan” tab. At the bottom of the page click “cancel plan,” which will take you to the downgrade page. Scroll to the bottom of the downgrade page and click “I still want to downgrade” to go to the next step.
This next page is a survey that you can’t skip. Select the reason that you’re downgrading your plan and click “continue” to proceed. You will be taken to a final page that tells you what you’ll miss out on by canceling.
If you’re sure that you want to downgrade, scroll to the bottom and click “I still want to downgrade.” If you’ve reached this point and you’re downgrading because you’re not sure what you’re getting with a paid plan, check out our Dropbox review for a full breakdown of what it offers and benefits that you may not be aware of.

Canceling a Dropbox business plan is a bit different from canceling an individual plan. First, make sure that you’re logged in with your admin account. On your home page, there’s a list on the left with an “admin console” option. Click that to get started.
In the admin console, click “billing” from the tertiary menu to the left of the screen. Once in the billing menu, scroll down to the bottom and click “cancel plan.” If you’re in the middle of a free trial, you can cancel your trial the same way.
Once you’re on the cancelation page, scroll to the bottom and check the boxes acknowledging what you will be losing by moving to a free team plan and click “complete cancelation.” Now that you’re on a free plan, you can go back to the admin console and delete your team to move back to an individual account, if you wish.

If you’ve paid for a Dropbox account and would like to receive a refund, you have to cancel within 14 days of purchasing your plan and you have to live in the EU or Turkey. If you meet those requirements, you can contact Dropbox for a refund.
If you’ve purchased your plan through the iOS or Android app, Dropbox suggests that you request a refund through the Google Play store or Apple’s App Store. You can view the whole Dropbox refund policy for more information.
