How to Watch The Avengers Online and for Free
In 2008, Iron Man effectively launched the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Ten years and 20 films later, the MCU has become the model everyone wants to emulate. While there are many standalone films, the Avengers franchise is among the most popular and lucrative. Given that, we thought you might be wondering how to watch the Avengers movies, so we made this guide.
All three Avengers movies are culminations of various plotlines in the MCU. The MCU launched 10 years ago and spans multiple phases and movies, creating a shared universe and canon. Avengers 4 will be the final film in phase three, then we’ll slide into phase four.
The Avengers movies are wildly successful, with all three making over $1 billion and landing on the list of the highest grossing films of all time. If you haven’t seen them, we’re here to help you climb out from under your proverbial rock by going over a few ways to watch them.
With the fourth Avengers film tentatively slated for spring 2019 and serving as the conclusion to Avengers: Infinity War, now is as good a time as any to catch up on, or rewatch, the MCU movies — doubly so if you’re counting the days until Captain Marvel hits theaters.
Watch the Avengers Online
The Avengers is available for streaming on Netflix, as are other MCU movies, such as Black Panther, Thor: Ragnarok and Guardians of The Galaxy Vol 2. As we discussed in our how to beat the Netflix ban guide, though, your library will vary based on your region.
In that article, we go over several virtual private networks capable of bypassing Netflix’s VPN detection, so you can access region-restricted content. You can’t go wrong with ExpressVPN when it comes to Netflix, as you can see in our ExpressVPN review.
All three titles — The Avengers, The Avengers: Age of Ultron and The Avengers: Infinity War — are available for rent on Amazon Prime Video. Subscribers can’t stream them for free, though. Regional restrictions apply to Amazon Prime Video, as well, so check out our best VPN for streaming guide for suggestions on how to deal with geoblocking.
It’s hard to beat ExpressVPN, but NordVPN is another top choice for streaming. Read about our experience with it in our NordVPN review.
The crop of Marvel content on Hulu isn’t compelling. Only The Marvel Animated Feature Series is available. That said, Vudu has all three Avenger flicks available for rent. Google Play and YouTube are solid choices, too, as they regularly have them in their libraries.
Watch the Avengers for Free
There are generally free options for watching Avengers movies, provided you’re not picky about quality or legality. Granted, there is risk involved with watching pirated movies, but if that’s your thing, we’re not here to judge. Just do it safely and discreetly.
Putlocker is a major source of pirated movies and, as a result, has attracted the attention of the Motion Picture Association of America and governing bodies that enforce copyright and intellectual property laws the world over. Because of that, the domain changes constantly.
SolarMovie has been considered the Netflix of pirated content and is probably the most popular alternative to the infamous 123Movies. Vietnam-based 123Movies abruptly shut down for unknown reasons in 2018, though it’s believed it was under pressure to do so, as the MPAA and the Vietnamese government are entrenched in a global campaign against illegal movie outlets.
Couchtuner is another option, but it focuses on TV shows, rather than movies. Its IP address jumps around, as well, so exercise due diligence in tracking it down.
Accessing illegal content puts your data and privacy at risk, as well as the security of your computer. Plus, there is risk of litigation for infringing on copyright laws. Many dodgy streams are laced with pop-ups, ads and malware. Make sure your antivirus software is up to the task.
Read our Bitdefender review to see why it’s an obvious choice for the job, as well as what lands it among our best antivirus software.
Unless you’re into seeing pop-ups for porn while watching The Avengers, you’ll want a pop-up blocker aboard your pirate ship. Our best pop-up blockers will help keep your privacy and security intact.
Though it should go without saying, we’re going to say it anyway: use a VPN. That will maximize your security, and keep you anonymous. VPNs mask your IP address, encrypt your traffic and hide you from your internet service provider. Check out our best VPNs for choices.
TorGuard is of particular interest for anonymity. You can see why it’s good for pirates and dark web denizens alike in our TorGuard review.
Watch the Avengers on Kodi
Kodi is an open source program for managing media on a server that has slowly gained traction with streaming aficionados. It allows you to store and organize all kinds of media, is compatible with most operating systems and supported by multiple devices.
Kodi is offered as a blank canvas, leaving your entertainment options up to you. Things get interesting with add-ons, especially unofficial ones. That’s where you’ll find repositories for pirated content.
The Blamo Repo was among the most popular repositories for pirated movies and TV shows, but it was shut down in September 2018. Another popular add-on, Exodus, remains available through the Kodi Bae repository. The Crazy Aces repository has a Marvel add-on containing many of the MCU movies, as well.
To learn more about Kodi, read our thorough Kodi guide. We discuss installing it, finding add-ons and repositories and the security measures you should take. If you’ve already been initiated, take a look at our best Kodi repositories.
Final Thoughts
Watching all of the Avengers movies can be tricky, as they tend to be spread across multiple places. Not every provider has them all and their respective libraries ebb and flow. If you’re willing to rent, Amazon Prime Video and Vudu are the easiest places to go.
Netflix has the first Avengers movie and will no doubt have Avengers: Infinity War before too long. Plus, it often has other MCU movies if you’re interested in films beyond the Avengers franchise. Hulu is mostly a bust with Marvel movies, so it’s probably not worth your time.
For the pirates among you, Putlocker and the aforementioned repositories for Kodi are your best bet. A quick search at Pirate Bay shows multiple torrents for Avengers: Infinity War if torrenting is your bag. Just be sure to read our best VPNs for torrenting guide first.
Hopefully, we helped clarify your options for how to watch the Avengers movies and get prepared for the end of phase three in 2019. Thanks for reading, and, if we left something out, comment or tweet at us.
